Unfortunately as an aspiring cocinero food tends to get worse not better… what have I done?

I’d hope in Costa Rica you’d find some great fried fish joints. I’ll always remember breakfasts at Spoon. Trendy but right down the street!

Cool. I should have actually asked you that yesterday, then I’d have known when writing things up. Perhaps I was just struck by how his pick of restaurant was on the same corner you’d given him as a destination, but I’m glad that others take you from that point to other parts of the city!

Whenever I start my taxi adventures in Manhattan, I begin at 59th and Lex (as it’s the first subway stop in the city from where I’m living in Queens) and tell the driver to go down to 28th and Lex regardless of what color he is (because I figure 30 blocks is enough to make it worth his while. Plus, it’s a straight shot, so he doesn’t have to think too much about driving as he answers my questions).

I never pick a driver based on his ethnicity – and I never pick a destination – even a fake one – based on where I think a driver might be from. That would undermine my one of favorite aspects of the Taxi Gourmet project: randomness.
