Most places here these days have hot sauce available – usually something simple like Tabasco or a similar bottled commercial sauce (especially if they have a bar and might use a few drops in a cocktail here and there), but often their own. Used to be that we’d carry some with us if we wanted it. As to “wrong country”, it’s where we live, so if we want things spicier, we ask. And, if you follow my blog, you’d see that at most of the restaurants we go to hot sauce is readily available, regardless of cuisine.
