A revisit to Proper. Despite the mediocre experience we had on the visit recounted above, all I’ve heard is how good it is, from person after person. So I decided to give it a solo visit and try a few of the small plates on my own. Certainly far better than the first experience, with a quite good bean puree with mole, a fairly good roasted eggplant dish, and a decent aged beef carpaccio. I’m still not wowed by it, but at least I enjoyed myself.

And, two further visits, once with Henry, once with another friend, and both really enjoyable. I still don’t think it’s “all that”, but at least on those two visits I could see what people are clamoring about.
