We decided just to share an appetizer and an entree – me remembering how big the portions were, and the waiter we had this time actually telling us that one of each would be more than enough food for two. Also, at dinner time, the house gave us a couple of large spoons filled with pulpo al oliva – octopus in olive sauce – excellent!

A classic sole ceviche, with a well balanced leche de tigre curing liquid, and enough chili to keep both of us happy.

And a bowl of sudado – very different version from what either of us have seen, this was a thick red sauce, almost like a pasta sauce rather than a soup, with a large fillet of grilled fish and some vegetables in it. Very smoky too, almost like the tomatoes in the broth/sauce had been roasted. Side of rice and potatoes to accompany. A hint more spice was needed, and they brought a dish of fresh rocoto chili sauce to the table. And, the waiter was right, we actually couldn’t even finish the sudado and brought about a third of it home.
