So, a revisit to Big Sur, as promised. Numerous folk out there are praising them as the be all and end all. And, while they do produce a delicious burger, even 8 months on, they still just don’t seem to have the rhythm down. Ordered a burger with a couple of different toppings, first off, the guy taking the order didn’t know what the difference was between fresh cucumbers and pickles, and then just pointed at a bowl of jalapeños floating in vinegar and said, “there, those are pickles, you can put them on yourself.” And, the ordered burger arrived without the fried egg I asked for… and took nearly 20 minutes to be made. I decided to try the pakoras, which were sort of kind of those – not really chard fritters, but just leaves and stems of chard that had been coated in chickpea flour and deep fried – I guess technically they probably qualify, though I’ve not seen them done as separate leaves this way. And a huge portion of them – it’d be kind of nice if they warned you about that – it’s a portion to share. That, or offer an individual portion – I didn’t even make it halfway through them. So, I’m leaving the place at four napkins.
