I have yet to encounter a calentado here, but then, we’ve mostly been eating breakfast in the hotels. Soup seems to be a mainstay of breakfast tables in Bogotá – particularly potato and meat soups with herb purees added, or changua, the milk, egg, cheese and bread soup. And arepas. And huevos rancheros, which are nothing like Mexican huevos rancheros, but rather scrambled eggs with chopped up sausage of some sort that doesn’t seem far removed from a hotdog. Lots of fruit, and pourable/drinkable yogurt.

I’m waiting for you to comment on the ubiquitous calentado.
