Henry’d also heard that they had a new chef, and had actually been back there once a few months ago with a group of friends for some late night dining and drinking.

At least based in contrast to the first experience, far better. Service was friendly, and far more attentive. And, the food we tried, a straightforward ceviche of sole, and a chicharrón de pollo, were quite good. On the flipside, portions are quite small in comparison to most Peruvian home cooking spots here, and noticeably more expensive. These two plates and a couple of bottles of water ran us 620 pesos ($36) before tip, and we left hungry. (For comparison, a typical chicharrón de pollo will run around 180-200 pesos and consist of half a chicken, a mound of fries, and a big salad, enough for two to share. This was a single chicken breast and its wing, a small salad, and a pile of fries, and ran 230 pesos.)
