One of many, many revisits to NOLA, but the first time for Sunday brunch. Excellent chicken and waffles, and as always, great gumbo. The fried mushrooms were little shining stars. Oddly, the red beans and rice, which I’ve had numerous times, were not their usual packed with flavor bowl – someone forgot to add the salt, and maybe some other seasoning…. The fried chicken sandwich, topped with crispy bacon and a sunnyside up egg was a huge, crispy breast, just barely cooked through, still faintly pink in the middle… and absolutely delicious! I’m chalking up the red beans and rice to a one-off mistake.

It feels like he’s found his niche. It’s much like Liza from NOLA, who has found her passion, her forte, serving up amazing fried chicken and craft beer. […]
