Jan – just because you don’t like a restaurant that I do doesn’t mean I’m wrong (and vice versa). I stand by my recommendations and explanations – I think anyone reading the reviews can understand where I’m coming from – I also, unless a restaurant is a complete failure, don’t see any reason to trash it based on a single visit and just a couple of dishes – of which, just to be clear, we only found one dish to be insipid – the other two were not – one of the people I was meeting with recommends the place highly, and, I’m pretty sure, my other dining companion plans to include it as a recommended spot in Lonely Planet – so if anything, I’m in the minority not liking it all that much. When I find a restaurant deserving of “not recommended” it gets it, without any holding back, as you could see if you look at the reviews of those that I feel deserve that rating. I’m not sure what other sites you’re talking about, though when it comes down to it, why would it matter if someone else has a different opinion than I do? And, if you find that you generally don’t agree with my opinions, why would you go to places I recommend? That’s what opinions are for, they shouldn’t necessarily all line up – and, sometimes, if enough people think I’m wrong, I go back and re-review a place. Oh, and by the way, I probably disagreed with close to half the reviews that Ruth Reichl ever wrote, both good and bad – and I’m sure she isn’t losing any sleep over it.

To be honest, I’ve been disappointed in several of the restaurants you recommend. As evidenced by commentary on other sites, know others have too. Time to get tougher. Think Ruth Reichl.
