Now, I only have a trio of times at La Cabrera Norte over nearly four years, and each time the steaks have been good, though I still don’t quite get the hoopla over the “multitude of sides” that everyone seems to claim. They’re fairly bland, uninteresting starch dishes – maybe it’s just the mere fact of their existence that excites some. Still, I have yet to have a bad dish there, especially a way overcooked steak, and you’re the first to tell me of one, so it is surprising if purely on a track record basis. Nonetheless, like many a place here, fair warning for inconsistency and personal experience differences.

By: norman hodges https://www.saltshaker.net/20081206/on-the-side#comment-175942 Mon, 08 Dec 2008 16:57:52 +0000 https://www.saltshaker.net/?p=1698#comment-175942 in the hope i might return to BA at some point and my opinion of your food choices i guess i might have to reconsider my opinion of LaCN. after wonderful meals with you at CSA, a wonderful chilean seafood restaurant downtown, an incredible high tea at the hotel alvear, etc. my friends and i went to LaCN for absolutely the worst steak i have ever attempted to eat (i won’t get into the reservation issue which i had heard our hotel staff make). the sahara desert would have more moisture in it than that piece of (i hesitate to call it meat) leather did. absolutely not eatible and when we said something to the waiter the response was “that’s the way it is served.” my friends’ steak orders were “ok” with them, but they agreed with my opinion of mine. needless to say i was well put off by my meal and have told everyone even thinking of going there on a visit to BA my view. i grant every place can have a bad night, but the waiters reaction to my not harshly stated comments was just beyond the pale in my view. it was an incredible letdown to what was to have been a last night in BA meal. i appreciate your review of your recent experience there.
