Obviously my review is four years old and much may have changed – though even then we had strange service with some things available and others not – though we did quite like the food that we had. And, of course, four years ago prices were next to nothing, I’m sure, by comparison to today’s (probably about a third of what they are now if they’re like most restaurants in town). It also may still apply, the quote from the owner at the time we went that he doesn’t consider the place to be a restaurant, but that he’s opening up his personal kitchen to the public. Who knows? It wasn’t memorable enough for me to have trekked back out there during the last four years – and it’s probably been about that long since anyone mentioned the place to me – didn’t even know it was still open.

After sitting down, we were handed two menus and told we could order anything we wanted. Ten minutes later, our waitress returned and told us the kitchen was closed so we could only order off the smaller menu, which included drinks and premade foods and breads. We decided to stay and have a few drinks, a bollito (bread stuffed with veggies), and a brownie. The waitress brought us lemonade instead of the blueberry juice (jugo de arandanos) we had ordered, but after we asked if the yellow drink was blueberry juice she took it back and brought a different drink out. Instead of being delicious blueberry juice though, the drink was clearly at least 80% overpriced seltzer water with a drop or two of blueberry juice. The brownie was also not made of chocolate (as they have been at every other Argentine restaurant I’ve ever been to), but was more like a lemon bar. We were still hungry, so we ordered another bollito. The waitress returned after 5 minutes to tell us there weren’t any more bollitos but that we could order anything else. We ordered a croqueta, which was supposedly nearly the same thing. 15 minutes later, our waitress returned to our table with a soy milenasa sandwich and told us they were out of croquetas but that she would charge us the same price. Even though that was nice enough of her, she really should have asked us if we wanted the sandwich before serving it to us because neither of us would have wanted it. When the waitress brought the check, she charged us twice as much for the bollito and the sandwhich compared to what the price on the menu said. The owner argued that the menu was outdated and refused to honor the prices listed on the menu. It was absolutely ridiculous. The bread was good, and we had intended to buy a loaf or two, but after such a terrible experience we weren’t willing to support them in any other way. We wanted to go back to give them another chance, but really after such a terrible experience, we’ll never be going back.
