>ground beef, green pepper, and mushroom

Man, I miss that style. Well sausage instead of ground beef and I wish I could find sliced black olives that come in a can to add to the mix. I know they are cheap and can't be compared to good quality preserved olives but they do work wonders on pizza.

I do like pizza here. I would never put it up against really good pizza in Italy, but it certainly tops pizza served in many parts of the world. And there is thin crust pizza here - right down to cracker-crust thinness at places that serve pizza a la parrilla, which I really like. My biggest objections to pizza here, and it's not universal, are two - tomato sauce tends to be nearly unseasoned at many places, so I'm thrilled when I find a place with a nice, zippy sauce, and there's too much oil in most of the mozzarella that's used here. It's the style of the cheese that, in general, seems to be liked here, but I prefer my pizzas not dripping oil. That, and my favorite pizza of all time is ground beef, green pepper, and mushroom - and nobody here puts the first two ingredients on pizza. Or at least not that I've found yet!

I'll check out your recommendation - if for nothing else, the museum sounds like it could be fun. And then that chicken sandwich... guess I have to make another couple of trips that way...

next time you're in the area, check out the cafe on the corner of lacroze and...damn i can't remember the other street but it's a couple of blocks up from the station...it's called something like 'el museo de la camara' and not only serves pretty decent coffee and standard argentine lunch fare but it also houses a camera museum (hence the name) which is quite cool but a little bizarre.

onto the pizza topic-do you actually like pizza in argentina? i never did, unfortunately. i found it too much like the pizza served in cheap takeaways around my university that i only ate when steaming drunk. argentine pizza doesn't really resemble proper italian pizza in any way except in the fact that it's round and has cheese on. it's just too much for me, i'm a thin crust man. the best pizza i found was actually just around the corner from where you went wandering-a block from Dorrego subte on the corner of Dorrego y Grl Lemos, a little hole in the wall place that also does the best chicken sandwiches in the city....

if you ever find yourself in valparaiso, chile then let me know via my blog. we've got some of the continent's best restaurants in the city now. a big change from when i first came to chile over 3 years ago and the food was, well,...rubbish...

As opposed to? I didn't know there were fake anchovies...

The really deep dish pizza like that is pretty unusual here - most al molde are not near that thick - part of why I was surprised that it had been recommended so highly.

That pizza looks pretty strange if you ask me. I prefer a thinner crust model, though I'll be happy to eat pizza most anywhere in BA. Is that a real anchovie?
