The lucky thing is that there are still plenty of places out there where one can dine "on the cheap", as it were. A decent lunch for 20-25 pesos, a dinner for under 50, and good quality, plenty of food. The unfortunate thing is that I think the places that are providing something different from the standard daily fare here of beef, potatoes, milanesas, empanadas, etc., are the ones that have gone up the most it seems - perhaps simply because they can given their unique offerings.

Yes, inflation has most definitely gone insane lately. It seems that almost daily my grocery bill is expanding yet the quantity of what I take home is reducing.

Dan, with the quality of service you provide an excellent deal at your published price.

Like Frank, I would hesitate to say what is fair or not for a restaurant. However, I have lived here for 4 years now and have not come close to considering paying over 200 pesos for a meal for 2 unless there was a halfway decent bottle of wine involved.

I get the feeling that everyone has kind of lost their grasp of value right now. The peso keeps loosing ground to the dollar while at the same time inflation beats the hell out of our wallets. We are getting the ol´ 1, 2 and we are all a little dazed.

I hear that we are expensive quite a bit these days. Meanwhile, I see the upper end alfajores hovering at around $5 in some places.

I just hope that things don't return to those exciting days of the late 90s with prices changing on a daily basis!

The weird thing for me is that people still write up Casa S as being very expensive - most of the good restaurants in this part of town are the same or higher, and most of our puertas cerradas competition is too!

I haven´t gone as much as I would like to, but each time I have been there the food has been great.

As for prices, just about everyone is adjusting prices these days. It´s hard to get a handle on what is expensive or fair. I am not in the restaurant business, but in my business inflation is definitely a big concern and it is hitting hard.

Just to give you one example, butter has gone up 108% since last year!
