The chicken with yellow pepper sauce was probably the ají de gallina we tried as well. It's soooooo much better (though not near as pretty) at Contigo Peru. You're right actually, which I didn't specify, the appetizers not only seemed bigger than the main courses, but were definitely better - especially that tiradito de pescado, which, despite lacking in the usual creaminess, was absolutely delicious. And, if their portions were enough to be considered full size, the kitchen speeded up, and they dropped the attitude at the door, this place could have rated an easy "recommended" if not "highly recommended" instead of just "okay". Flavor-wise, the food is great.

I felt lucky when I recently went there at 9pm. At first we were told that becuase we did not have a reservation they could not seat us but we went in anyway looking around the whole restaurant and admiring the place. They did finally let us in. There were only two tables seated when we got there. There were four of us and we shared some appetizers. The shrimp ceviche was excellent. I ordered a chicken with yellow pepper sauce - I can´t quite remember the exact description but that was so-so. The appetizers, for me, were very very good. Everyone else raved about their dishes but did note that they were on the small side. Your review on the place was right on the money. Having read this I am going to scribble in Contigo Peru on my future restaurant outings.
