Tag, You’re It

Buenos Aires – Tag was one of my favorite games when growing up. I’m not sure if we ever knew “the rules” of the game. I’m not even sure if there are any. We just used to run around a lot, chasing after each other, and shrieking “Tag, Your It!” at the top of our lungs. It’s been a long time since I’ve played, and now, being in the “blogosphere”, I keep waiting for the equivalent. I know there are other bloggers out there reading my blog, and I’ve seen quite a few of them participate in the online equivalent – the meme. But no, no one has ever tagged me, and I’ve never tagged anyone. Maybe they know that I just throw out chain letters or delete chain e-mails when they arrive, risking eternal damnation, loss of millions of dollars, and possibly jeopardizing the futures of small third-world children. Regardless, I’ve avoided the conceit of just jumping in and participating without invitation. Until today. Yesterday was slow news in the food world here, mostly eating up leftovers, of which the refrigerator was full. So when I saw one of the latest memes pop up over on Derrick Schneider’s An Obsession With Food, I said, “oh hell, why not?” I might even tag someone else at the end. Just to be annoying.

This particular meme seems to be being referred to as “The Four Things” out there…

Four jobs I’ve had:
1. Word Processor (well, Word Processing Operator)
2. Paramedic
3. Real Estate Appraiser
4. Hot Dog Stand Vendor

Four movies I can watch over and over:
1. Mary Poppins
2. Dr. Zhivago
3. The Jungle Book (Disney version, animated)
4. The Holy Grail (or, for that matter, anything Monty Python (except Jabberwocky), or Mel Brooks (except High Anxiety), ever did)

Four places I’ve lived:
1. Ann Arbor, Michigan
2. Hoboken, New Jersey
3. Kansas City, Missouri
4. Joliet, Illinois

Four TV shows I love:
1. CSI (original or Miami, not New York)
2. Star Trek: Next Generation
3. MASH
4. Level 9 (and damnit, bring it back!)

Four places I’ve vacationed:
1. Sydney, Australia
2. Rome, Italy
3. Frankfurt, Germany
4. Key West, USA

Four of my favorite dishes:
1. Cassoulet
2. Macaroni & Cheese
3. Linguini with fresh, traditional Pesto
4. Pizza

Four sites I visit daily or regularly:
1. Ideas in Food
2. BA Newcomers
3. New York Times
4. Giles Coren’s restaurant reviews in the London Times

Four places I’d rather be right now:
1. Nowhere else
2. I’d consider Rome
3. I’d consider Sydney
4. I love to travel, so really, a trip to pretty much anywhere

Four bloggers I’m tagging:
1. My friend Amy, just because she hasn’t posted to her blog in months
2. My friend James, because he loves doing little survey thingies
3. There’s no one else I want to tag
4. See #3
